Funny Man

I actually had a good day today. I volunteered at the Actors and Others Celebrity Roast for Dick Van Dyke. I helped set up the gift bags, was door security so no one got in while they were finishing the set up and doing sound check and I helped with the silent auction. While I was on door duty I got JoAnne Worley upset with me because I didn't open the door for her. I told Mike Farrell where the restrooms were and I helped Ted Lange get the 2 items he won in the silent auction. I will now list the other celebrities that I saw but did not speak to

Dick Van Dyke
Tim Conway
Mitzi Gaynor
Leonard Maltin
Charlotte Rae
Elayne Boosler
Dick Martin
Loretta Swit
Bryan Cranston
Jamie Farr
and a few others that I didn't recognize

I ended up sneaking off with a centerpiece and box of items that are cat related.

A Day at the Zoo

We left Illinois two months ago I can't believe how the time flies. We had to pick the hottest summer in the past 200 years to come out here. I actually had the weekend off and spent most of it cleaning the apartment. I did learn something new this week: the difference between tap dancing and clogging is that in clogging there are double taps on the shoes and the movement is more into the ground versus a more hopping motion in tap dancing.

Well the main portion of this blog is going to be dedicated to the thought that's been haunting me all week. I believe all managers would learn a lot about how to handle their employees by working at a zoo for a year. I will now post a few of the reasons I came up with, please feel free to add any reasons you can think of.

Positive reinforcement - reward the right behavior not the wrong.

If your animal is full of shit one day you're going to step in it so learn to avoid it.

Animals are happiest when their bellies are full so keep snacks handy.

Never turn your back on your animals because they might just bite you in the ass.

Just another day 2

Spent yesterday logging footage of a hotel in San Diego. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to work at a post house but it's frustrating that I have to work for free, it's still better than paying for school. This hit home yesterday when I found out all 3 of my credit cards are maxed out.

Today I started the day with a prank caller at work, as soon as I picked up the phone all I heard was heavy panting. Work is getting more and more miserable as I have to pick up and rehang thousands of bras and constantly get the pressure to force credit cards on people. Plus the fun fact that we are shorthanded and we get to suffer for it. On the plus I received my free CK camisole today.

I had an interview last Friday at a post house that I was perfect for but unfortunately did not make it to the second interview.

Jeff comes back on Saturday and then heads out quickly afterward.

Just another day 1

I did it I lasted a whole day in California without having anyone I know here. I spent the morning calling golf courses for charity and then I drove an hour for a 10 minute interview with a post production and then drove another hour and a half to pay 2 parking violations and then got pulled over for not having my seatbelt on (got away with a warning). What a crappy day.

Yesterday I spent 3 hours watching someone edit a travel show and then logged another travel tape for an hour. Instead of paying for classes I have decided to do some free work for a post production house in exchange for them showing me the finer points of Final Cut Pro.

My brother is back in Illinois and I am lonely.

Work is work, boring.

Tomorrow I am going to make guacamole from avocados from George Wendt's house. It sounds like an episode of "I Love Lucy."
